Can injections go through airport security?
- TSA (US): unused syringes are allowed when accompanied by injectable medication; declare them at the checkpoint.[1]
- TSA (US): medically necessary liquids, such as injectable medicines, are allowed above 3.4 oz / 100 mL in carry-on; tell the officer and they will be screened separately.[2][3]
- Used needles should travel in a sharps container or similar hard-sided container; the FDA explains safe disposal.[4]
- Keep medicine in hand luggage in its original labelled carton. A prescription copy or clinician’s letter can help, especially abroad. Check your destination’s rules before you go.
How warm can the medicine get?
Each label sets its own limits. The Wegovy® label says single-dose pens are stored in the fridge and, if needed, may be kept between 8 °C and 30 °C for up to 28 days before the cap is removed; keep them in the carton, away from light, and never frozen.[5] The Zepbound® label allows single-dose pens and vials to stay unrefrigerated at up to 30 °C for a total of 21 days.[6]
Do not put injectables in checked luggage, where temperatures can swing. For compounds without an approved label, there is no official room-temperature limit — ask the prescriber or pharmacist who supplied it.
What happens to dose timing across time zones?
The CDC notes that jet lag usually appears after crossing more than three time zones.[7] For a weekly injection a few hours rarely matter as much as for a daily one, but your label and clinician decide the acceptable window.
PepLabo only does the calendar math; it does not recommend a strategy. Choosing between keeping home time, switching to local time or shifting gradually is a conversation for your clinician.
What does PepLabo not do?
PepLabo does not tell you which time-zone strategy to use, check airline or country rules for you, or know the temperature your medicine was kept at.
