Syringe units converter
Convert between millilitres and units on a U-100 insulin syringe, in either direction, and see where the line falls on a 1 mL, 0.5 mL or 0.3 mL syringe.
Updated
A unit converter for U-100 syringes only, not a dosing guide. Check every number with your clinician or pharmacist.
How to convert mL and syringe units
mL to units
Multiply the volume by 100. 0.15 mL × 100 = 15 units.
Units to mL
Divide the units by 100. 40 units ÷ 100 = 0.4 mL.
Find the line
On a 1 mL syringe each small line is usually 2 units; on 0.5 mL and 0.3 mL syringes it is usually 1 unit. Check the printed scale on yours.
The numbers above only show the arithmetic. They are not a recommendation.

The PepLabo app keeps the syringe with your vial.
In the app the calculator also has U-40 syringes and custom sizes, and it fills your vial so every logged dose lowers the level.
Questions
How do I convert units to mL?
Divide by 100 on a U-100 syringe. 20 units is 0.2 mL, 50 units is 0.5 mL and 100 units is 1 mL.
What does U-100 mean?
U-100 means the syringe is marked for a strength of 100 units per mL. Every unit line is 0.01 mL, whatever the size of the syringe.
Can I use this for a U-40 syringe?
No. A U-40 syringe is marked for 40 units per mL, so its units are larger. This page is for U-100 only. The PepLabo app has U-40 syringe options.
Why does my result fall between two lines?
On a 1 mL syringe each small line is usually 2 units, so an odd number of units sits between two lines. A smaller syringe with 1-unit lines can be easier to read. Ask your pharmacist which syringe suits you.
Does this converter suggest a dose?
No. It only converts the numbers you type. Your dose should come from your clinician.
