Why reminders get missed
Most missed reminders are not forgotten by the app; they are held back by the phone. A Focus or Do Not Disturb mode can delay them, notifications can be switched off for one app, a Scheduled Summary can bundle them for later, and on Android the system may postpone alerts that are not allowed to fire at an exact time [1][2][3].
The other common cause is a reminder set for the wrong moment, such as a time you are usually asleep or driving. Fixing both sides, the app and the phone, takes a few minutes and is worth doing once.
Three reminders for each dose
- Upcoming reminder: 15 minutes before a scheduled dose, so you can get your pen, vial or tablets ready.
- Scheduled time: at the exact time set in the program. The notification has a Log dose button.
- Missed follow-up: 30 minutes after a dose that is still open. It says the dose is open and asks you to log it when you are ready. It does not tell you what to take or when.
- Each one has its own switch under Settings › Notifications, and the Reminders switch above them turns all schedule notifications on or off. If you allowed notifications when PepLabo first asked, that master switch is already on.
Pick a time you will actually see
The reminder follows the Reminder time in each program, so the easiest fix is choosing a moment when your phone is with you. For a weekly shot, the labels leave the hour open: the Ozempic® and Mounjaro® prescribing information both describe a weekly dose that can be taken at any time of day [4][5].
A program can have several times a day, and each time is one dose. If you leave Reminder time on None, the dose counts as an any-time dose and gets no reminder. If you want a different time later, edit the program and save; reminders move with it.
iPhone: Time Sensitive, Focus and summaries
PepLabo marks the on-time and missed dose reminders as Time Sensitive. Apple’s guide explains that in each Focus, under Settings › Focus › Apps, you can add apps to Allow Notifications From, and you can also turn on Time Sensitive Notifications so apps can deliver time-sensitive alerts right away [1].
So for each Focus you use, such as Sleep or Work, either add PepLabo to the allowed apps or turn on Time Sensitive Notifications there. The 15-minute heads-up is an ordinary notification and may wait until the Focus ends.
Two more places are worth one look. Under Settings › Notifications › PepLabo, Apple lists a Time Sensitive Notifications switch, the Alerts choices (Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners) and, if you use Scheduled Summary, a choice between Immediate Delivery and the summary [3]. If PepLabo is allowed to notify but alerts are hidden, its Notifications screen shows Notification alerts are off, with a shortcut to the system setting.
Android: exact alarms and the reminder channel
Android Developers describe exact alarms as alarms that fire at a precise moment, and apps targeting Android 12 or later need the “Alarms & reminders” special access to set them. The same page notes that this access is not pre-granted to fresh installs on Android 13 and later, that both the user and the system can revoke it, and that a backup-and-restore move to an Android 14 device leaves it denied [2].
In PepLabo, the Exact-time reminders row under Notifications shows whether this access is on; while it is off, Android may deliver reminders late. Tap the row to open the system page and allow it. If the warning Dose reminder channel is off appears, Android will not show dose reminders at all until you turn that channel back on; the row leads to the right setting.
When PepLabo sends no dose reminder
- The master Reminders switch is off, or notifications are not allowed in the phone’s settings.
- The dose has no Reminder time (an any-time dose), or it is already logged.
- The program is a sample: sample programs never send reminders, so nobody else’s dose lands on your lock screen.
- The vial linked to the program is used up or archived and there is no other usable vial of the same compound, so there is nothing to draw the dose from.
- With Travel mode (Pro), reminders on travel days move to the times in your travel plan rather than disappearing.
Check that the whole chain works
- Send a test notification: it arrives in about 5 seconds, so you can check that you see and hear it with your usual settings.
- Reminders on this device shows when PepLabo last checked and how many of the planned reminders are actually set on the phone.
- Next reminder and the count for the next 14 days show what is coming. The 15-minute and 30-minute alerts are set for the coming 12 hours at a time; the on-time reminders are set further ahead.
- Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself, so if the screen says they are set up until a certain date, open PepLabo once before then. A Keep your reminders going notification asks you to do the same.
More reminders you can switch on
Under Log reminders, every option starts switched off, and each one is skipped when you have already logged the thing it asks about:
- Side-effect check-in: 2, 6 or 24 hours after every dose you log, asking how you feel. It is not sent if you have logged a side effect since that dose.
- Weekly injection day: the evening before, for weekly programs.
- Low stock: about 3 days before a vial is expected to run out, based on your schedule.
- Program end and cycle breaks: the day before.
- Weekly summary: Sunday evening. Weigh-in, progress photo, activity and sleep log reminders sit in the same list.
Lock screen and widgets
If you do not want medicine names on the lock screen, turn on Hide peptide names; the notification then reads “Dose reminder” without the name or amount. The same switch keeps names out of the weekly injection day, low stock and program reminders.
With Pro, PepLabo widgets show your next dose on the Home Screen and Lock Screen with a live countdown and one-tap logging. Add them from Settings › Add widgets, and use Show compound name on widgets to choose whether the name appears or just “Next dose”.
When a reminder is missed anyway
A late reminder is a prompt to check, not an instruction. Each label sets its own rule for a missed dose, and they differ: the Ozempic® label gives up to 5 days to take a missed injection, the Mounjaro® label up to 4 days (96 hours) [4][5]. The missed-dose article sets the rules for other products side by side. If you are unsure how the rule applies, ask your pharmacist or prescriber.
When you do take it, log it with the real time. PepLabo lets you add a dose later with the right time, which keeps your history accurate for the next conversation with your clinician.
